If you had told me 3 years ago that I would still

If you had told me 3 years ago that I would still be writing about this dream from the city, I would have laughed in your face. It was a with a firm-footed surety that I started out on this journey towards a different way of life. Under no circumstances did I think it would be taking this long. If I had known that 3 years later I would still be here in the centre of Madrid, there's no way I would have dared to begin to share the journey with the world.

(I also hadnt counted on a pandemic to happen just as I started out! Small inconvenience 😛)

Now I know how slow transformation is on this material plane. Now I know the meaning of the permaculture principle 'slow solutions'....

It means just plodding on, putting one foot in front of the other, and keeping going.

Change is on the horizon but it is slow, slow, slow.... It can be tiring, the uphill slog of building a new life that will take me in the direction of where I want to go.

Patience really is a virtue! 🤗😛

But little by little, I'm getting closer. (Will share more soon!)

New opportunities are coming in fast. Just as new life in springing from the trees and soil, new possibilities are arising.

Sometimes I get too caught up in the excitement. I've got to remember to stay present and grounded and no get too lost is what could be brewing.

When I'm in nature, it automatically brings me in to the present moment. I love drinking in the colours and textures of the plants. Being present to the details helps me feel alive.

That's what I took away from the book I just reviewed on the blog, Derek Jarman's Garden. The way he writes about his beautiful garden in such detail is the magic that made me enjoy the book so much.

Today Ive been spending a bit of time in my own garden. Not quite as intriguing as Derek's, but you have to start somewhere, haven't you? 😛🌱😊🌈🌷🌺

Yesterday's protest to prevent the cutting down of

Yesterday's protest to prevent the cutting down of over 1000 mature trees in my local area to create a new metro line.

The public weren't informed about the plan to razor almost an entire park of trees and cut down a whole area of trees that are over 50 years old and that that give us much needed shade in the summer months.

We want a metro line, but not like this.

I think it's important to play an active part in our communities , not be apathetic and lazy and leave it for someone else.

If we don't use our voice, if we look the other way, if we believe that it's someone else's responsibility, we are giving our power away to people who may not use it for the common good.

Sometimes we have to get out of our fur-lined pocket and stand up to be counted.

Because if not us, who?

I want to tell you about a beautiful book I have b

I want to tell you about a beautiful book I have been reading.

It is a is called 'Derek Jarman's Garden' and I found it so inspiring. For me, this book, this man and his amazing garden are a true work of art.

If you are anything like me and enjoy beautiful green spaces and also a deeper reflection on the world, I think you will too.

This is the first book review Ive done but there are so many more books that I love that I want to share. I love reading books that in some way keep me feeling connected to my dream and to my vision of a more beautiful world.

I have always envisioned creating a book club for like-minded people who believe that a more beautiful world is possible and who are searching for fuel, inspiration and information to help keep the vision alive.

This has also been something I wanted to do for a while. Now it feels like the right time to make it happen 🤗

Right now I will keep it simple: write about the books I'm reading and invite you to read them with me! In this latest post I have put some discussion questions as the end to reflect on in the comments section (you can answer them without actually reading the book).

"I defend this tree".

This the message the reads on these signs made people in my neighbourhood. The council are planning to build a new metro at our local park #madridrio. But at the last minute they have decided to make it inside the park, rather than the pavement, exactly where there are over 200 mature trees. (Or so I have been informed)

They apparently think that this is no problem, just an unfortunate means to an end.

In a city that famously wears 'a beret' of pollution, you have to question the wisdom of this decision.

I never in a million years thought I would be writ

I never in a million years thought I would be writing a blog. I had never written anything creative since I was in school, only my notebooks, but they were only for me. To have discovered over the last 3 years that I can actually write things that people enjoy reading has been a revelation for me.

I think we all have gifts that we don't know we have. It's just a matter of following our heart and seeing what it has to show us about ourselves. Its a journey that requires courage because it may lead you, as it has me, to step outside of the confines of your previous identity. It might require us to stick two fingers up to our own version of the status quo that keeps us from exploring ourselves further and asking then question 'what if I just had a go at that?'

Sitting down do write my first blog post is one of the best things I have ever done.

I say now is the time to stop playing small and courageously bring our gifts and talents out in to the world.

That's how we go about co-creating something different, for ourselves and the rest of world too 🌍 🤗✨🌈

I recently published a new post on the blog about how by following my hearts calling, I discovered gifts I never knew I had. In my case, writing!! ☺️ I share the journey of writing over the last 3 years and how, after a bumpy start, it has transformed my life.
